Our Approach
Mission Statement

Baker Borski Chiropractic will strive to assist the families of our community with service, compassion, and the chiropractic principles of wellness. We will empower our patients with the knowledge of the body’s own innate ability to heal itself without interference to achieve optimum wellness so that they may fulfill their full lifetime potential.

Philosophy

Chiropractors’ perspective on health and disease emphasizes two fundamental concepts:

The structure and function of the body influences how the body functions and its ability to heal itself.
The mind-body relationship is instrumental in maintaining health and in the healing process.
Techniques

We are Atlas Orthogonal chiropractors, which means that not only are we licensed Doctors of Chiropractic with seven or more years of education, but we have also completed extensive post graduate training. We use many techniques to detect and correct subluxations - misalignments of the bones which cause irritations to the nervous system, reducing the body's ability to cope with stresses to the immune system.

Atlas Orthogonal Adjustment
Atlas Orthogonal Upper Cervical Technique
This method focuses on the structure, function and bio-mechanics of the upper cervical spine (neck). The Atlas is the top vertebrae of the spine and supports the head. Orthogonal means at right angle to or square. If the Atlas is not square to the head and spine (referred to as subluxated) then the head and spine are by necessity out of alignment. We use an adjustment instrument that is safe, gentle, and delivers a precise impulse to the exact area needed as determined by X-rays, without physical manipulation.

Activator Method
Utilizing a hand-held instrument referred to as an activator, this instrument delivers a very precise adjustment. One of the gentler chiropractic techniques, this method is a good alternative for people who are sensitive to being touched, have reduced range of motion, whiplash, those with osteoporosis or arthritis, and for children, the elderly or people who do not like the “popping” sound of getting adjusted.
Thompson Drop Technique
A "segmental drop table" is used to enhance the motion of the segment or area to be adjusted, most commonly the mid-back, low back and pelvic area.
Spinal Decompression
Spinal decompression technique also known as Flexion and Distraction is a low-force adjustive procedure that slowly stretches out the spine. It can be administered to the lumbar (lower back) and cervical (neck) spine for a variety of conditions. It is effective in treating bulging, slipped, ruptured and herniated discs (without cauda equina syndrome or progressive neurological deficit), facet syndrome, spondylolisthesis, sprain/strain, scoliosis and spinal stenosis.
Extremity Manipulation
Dysfunction due to sports injuries, car accidents, overuse or postural imbalance can happen in any joint in the body and can accumulate and progress subtly over years, leading to pain in or around the spine even though the root cause is somewhere else. Adjustments and mobilizations can be performed on almost every joint to restore motion.
Cranial Sacial Technique (CST)
A gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system ?comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, we release restrictions in the craniosacral system to help improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
Cold Laser/Low-Level Light Laser Therapy
Light energy is used to directly stimulate the body’s cells to do what they were created to do. Low level lasers from the Cold Laser machine penetrate deeply into the skin and work by restoring abnormal cellular function. Cold Laser uses a non-heat producing light laser, which is locked at a specific wavelength that is optimal for treatment and can penetrate deeply into tissue

Treatment

The process of bringing the spinal structure back to its normal condition often requires the retraining of those muscles and ligaments that have become weakened and stretched through long periods of misuse or injury. This retraining process begins with the first adjustment and generally requires a series of carefully planned treatments to fully achieve permanent correction.
You will have a private consultation with the doctor about family history, diet, medications, exercise, your job and past healthcare experiences as well as what you are concerned about at this time and the future.
A medical, physical, orthopedic and neurological evaluation will be conducted which, may include the use of x-rays or other diagnostic procedures to enable the doctor to most accurately assess your health concerns. A spinal examination and analysis will help determine any structural abnormalities affecting your health. All of these findings contribute to a more accurate and complete picture of your health status. Every patient is unique and we will design a custom treatment plan to best meet your individual needs.
